Superstition Mountains Adventurous Couple Session, Lost Dutchman State Park | Arizona Adventure Elopement & Intimate Wedding Photographer
April 1, 2019 , ADVENTURE SESSION
I can’t say enough good things about the Adventurers Workshop, put on by the two incredible elopement photographers Maddie Mae of Adventure Instead and Abbi Hearnes of The Hearnes. Not only did I learn loads about being an adventure elopement photographer and providing my couples with an exceptional wedding day experience, but I also made some pretty kick-ass friends.
This lovely lady and her adventure buddy/best friend was one of them. I was STOKED when they agreed to hike with me in the Superstition Mountains (my first time there!). We had some pretty freaky weather in Arizona during this trip (it even snowed in Tucson!). There were still signs of snow in the Superstitions when we arrived on this warm February day. But after a winter in central Pennsylvania, I would be lying if I said it didn’t feel pretty wonderful. We just hung out in the foothills until the sun dipped below the horizon. By the way, Arizona sunsets are no joke!
So what is an adventurous couple session anyway? Well, during an adventure session there isn’t any pressure to pose or really to do anything in particular. It’s all about relaxing and having a good time. That may mean dancing with your partner, telling jokes, cuddling, or just exploring together (but will likely involve a little bit of all of these 😉 ). The point is, these sessions are a lot of fun! If you’re typically pretty camera shy, this is definitely the way to do it. There’s no stress so you can just be your true selves, soaking it all in, the landscape and the love.
While in Arizona, we fell head over heels for the scenery and are planning on moving to this area of the world in the end of July (I know, I know, the worst time ever to move to Arizona). I can’t tell you how absolutely over the moon excited I am about this though. So, if you have any advice about Arizona/Southwest life, I would love to hear it in the comments. Please try not to say too much about the scorpions though!
