Adventurous Hiking Wedding Portraits on Rattlesnake Ledge | Jackleen Leed Photography
November 28, 2018 , ADVENTURE ELOPEMENT
This adventurous hiking wedding session embodies all of the loveliness of the Pacific Northwest, beautiful old growth forests coated in lush green moss and epic views of surrounding mountains punctuating the landscape in every direction. This couple is especially dear to me, as I photographed their intimate wedding at a nearby blueberry farm the summer before. After their wedding, I packed up my little family and we made the journey cross country to settle on the East Coast near family, but my heart never stops aching for the misty days, endless cups of coffee, and hikes through some of the most gorgeous forests I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. When Svetlana told me that she and Eugene were game for a wedding portrait session involving one of my favorite hikes, I couldn’t wait to jump on a plane and tie up my hiking boots. This visit to Washington State included my newest little love, Remy, and I was eager for him to meet our Seattle friends, as well as experience the landscapes that make my soul sing.
The hike began with a rendezvous at the lake, which looked otherworldly with the old tree stumps, relics that reveal the logging past of the small Washington State town of North Bend. We then slowly began the trek up to Rattlesnake Ledge. I quickly realized that caring for an infant doesn’t count as exercise, despite my exclamations to the contrary during the previous few months. Out of breath, but exceedingly happy, we made our way to the tippy top, stopping to collect moments along the way.
Svetlana and Eugene have a love that is expressed in all they do. Just watching them be together is so very special. I am beyond honored that they let me in to document it.
